The road we travel - Pastor Drew
June 2, 2010

"How can we understand the road we travel?  It is the LORD who directs our steps."  Proverbs 20:24

Sometimes the process of understanding God's direction in our lives is not as simple as we desire it to be.  Have you ever said to God, "Just show me in a dream, vision, or speak to me so clear that I cannot mess this up!"  To know the perfect will of God is my perpetual desire.

The place to start searching for God's best is by going to Jesus Himself and simply asking.  The following is a short example of that:

Hudson Taylor had definite convictions about how God's work should be done. We can make our best plans and try to carry them out in our own strength. Or we can make careful plans and ask God to bless them. "Yet another way of working is to begin with God; to ask His plans, and to offer ourselves to Him to carry out His purposes."  W. Wiersbe, Wycliffe Handbook of Preaching and Preachers, p. 243.

Start by asking God, then it's good wisdom to ask others.  "Plans succeed through good counsel; don't go to war without advice of others (Proverbs 20:18)."  I have spared myself many heartaches by simply asking for advice from other men or women of God who have walked the path before me.

Be of good courage today - God will direct your steps!

Blessings!
