Proverbs 15 - Pastor Drew
June 9, 2010

"Fear of the LORD teaches a person to be wise; humility precedes honor."  Proverbs 15:33

Proverbs 15 is one of my favorite chapters in the book of Proverbs.  The purpose of the proverbs "is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings (Prov. 1:2 NLT)."  Edwin Louis Cole once said, "understanding is anointed common sense."  Lord, give us anointed common sense as we read the Proverbs!

The following are 8 signs of a Wise Person according to Proverbs 15:

1.  Whoever learns from correction is wise (v.5).
2.  Only the wise can give good advice (v.7).
3.  A wise person is hungry for truth (v.14).
4.  A sensible person stays on the right path (v.21).
5.  The path of the wise leads to life above (v. 24).
6.  If you listen to constructive criticism (v.31).
7.  If you listen to correction (v.32).
8.  Fearing God.  Having a respect for Him (v.33).

If you desire to walk in the wisdom of the Lord, walk with the wise.  Wisdom doesn't always have to come through the "school of hard knocks".  Wisdom comes from God and learning from the mistakes of others.  Someone once said, " A wise man learns by the experience of others. An ordinary man learns by his own experience. A fool learns by nobody's experience. "
Blessings on you today as you pursue wisdom!
