Philippians 4:6 - Pastor Drew
February 14, 2010
"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God." Philippians 4:6
What are you worrying about today? What is occupying your mind? George Macdonald once said, "Anything big enough to occupy our minds is big enough to hang a prayer on." The above Scripture verse commands the Believer to "be anxious for nothing." Make it your aim this day to replace your worries with prayer and thanksgiving. I have a feeling this could change the very course of your day, maybe your life!
I read a quote that says, "Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength." Have you felt weak lately? Maybe it's because of what you have set your mind on. Isaiah wrote, "You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You (Isaiah 26:3)." Keeping your mind on the LORD will enable you to stay in the peace of God vs. being worried and troubled . A worry a day will sap the vitality away.
A great promise from God's Word can be found in Isaiah 40:31 - "But those who wait on the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint." The word wait means to expect or have hopeful expectation. It also means to bind together. When we bind ourselves to the LORD and His Word, we will be renewed in our strength, we will began to soar like the eagle, and we will run and not be weary.
Be of good cheer! You don't have to worry. Pray and meditate on the Word of God today and watch the worry fly away!
