Matthew 9:22 - Pastor Drew
February 24, 2010
"Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well." And the woman was healed at that moment. Matthew 9:22
I'm encouraged after reading Jesus' response to this woman's faith. The encouraging message is: If you are sick and without a cure - Jesus will heal you! Sounds simple doesn't it? You may be asking right now, "Why don't I ever get healed?" That's a great question, and I have had the same question on a number of occasions.
I believe part of the answer is found in the above Scripture, "Your faith has made you well." Faith is the connecting point to the healing power of Jesus. Scripture says "without faith it is impossible to please God." (Hebrews 11:6) We don't know the name of the woman who was bleeding for 12 years without a cure, but we do know that she had faith and the faith she possessed made her well.
Faith will enable you to persevere through trials and tribulations. The woman who was bleeding for 12 years had faced this incurable ailment yet her thoughts were, "If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed (Matt. 9:19)". This woman of great faith must have heard the stories or saw Jesus healing the sick. These stories and observations inspired her and she came to the conclusion in her heart - "Jesus is the healer! If I can just press through the crowd and touch him, I will be healed." Our thoughts often dictate our feelings and our feelings tend to affect our actions.
It's important that we get God's thoughts in our minds about His perspective on our situation. The doctors, friends, and relatives may have told you "There is no hope or this is incurable". The question I have for you today is, "What is God saying? Have you read His precious promises about healing?" I want to encourage you today to meditate on God's Word. Remember, your thoughts will eventually affect your actions. The woman in this story thought first and then acted. Your case is not incurable in God's eyes. Grab hold of His heart and His thoughts and watch the impossible take place in your life today!
