Know God - Pastor Drew
February 21, 2010

"Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; But let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me..." Jeremiah 9:23-24

Dorothy Patterson says, "If you please man and never please God, you have nothing; If you please God and man forsakes you, you have everything." As Believers in Christ, the most important thing is to know God. To please God is to know God. He desires to have a wonderful, life-giving relationship with you.

The scripture verses above exhort us not to glory in our wisdom, might, or riches - but to glory in this - KNOWING GOD! That was the cry of Moses when he said,
"Please, show me Your Glory (Ex.33:1)." Moses wanted to know God. He desired to see Him and experience His Presence. God is pleased when it's our desire to know Him.

In our busy schedules God still says to us, "Be still, and know that I am God (Ps. 46:10)." The word "still" means to: relax, to refrain, or to be quiet. A prerequisite to knowing God is to refrain from the busyness of life and to quietly relax and listen to what He might say to you.

The truth is this - God is speaking! Are you listening? How can we listen with our long lists? I encourage you today, push aside the busyness and take some time with God. He loves your company!

Chuck Swindoll says,
"To be used of God. Is there anything more encouraging, more fulfilling? Perhaps not, but there is something more basic: to meet with God. To linger in His presence, to shut out the noise of the city and, in quietness, give Him the praise He deserves. Before we engage ourselves in His work, let's meet Him in His Word... in prayer... in worship."
Blessings on you today! Enjoy Jesus!
