Our History

In the summer of 2003, Drew Becker moved his family from Beulah, ND to Aberdeen, SD. After eight months in Aberdeen, Drew continued to have a question in the back of his mind - “What is our purpose in Aberdeen?” To resolve this question Drew went on a 28 day fast that brought him the understanding he so desperately needed. The Lord spoke to Drew’s heart about planting a church in Aberdeen and surrounding areas. About seven months later, Christi (Drew’s wife) went on a 21 day fast that confirmed the direction of the Lord to plant a church in Aberdeen.

On January 25th, 2006, Drew & Christi opened their home to anyone who was interested in helping plant a new church in Aberdeen. About 15 people showed up for the meeting the first night and since that evening it gradually grew.

October 1st, 2006, was our official first Sunday and we had 90 people at our first Sunday morning meeting.  Presently we have about 130 people meeting each Sunday at Holgate Middle School Theater.  Our Sunday morning Worship Service starts at 10am, with donuts and coffee available at 9:30am.  The Sunday morning meetings are different each week with the emphasis of pursuing God and His purposes.

John Flemmer was added to the staff in June of 2007.  John has a tender heart and loves the children.  John came on as the Children's Pastor and has also taken on the role of Youth Pastor,.  John graduated from Trinity Bible College in 2007.

Matt and Maggie Payne joined the Freedom Worship Center staff in March of 2012.  Matt is the Associate Pastor and Worship Leader.  Maggie helps with the worship team along with strategic and administrative help for the entire team.

Freedom Worship Center exists to encourage, equip, and enable people to walk in their God-given purpose through authentic life giving relationships and the dynamic Presence of God.
